I figured the person was laughing at the obvious mistake. I would totally agree that he made a simple mistake. No doubt he knows how many states are in the union. The point that was being made was had McCain made this mistake would the press covered it differently. I tend think it would questioning his mental fitness for the presidency. Also, I have faith that Senator Obama is smart enough to know that there are only 49 states in the union (I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missoura).
