Press Coverage

Marc Ambinder argues had McCain made the mistake Obama made, that the press coverage would of been much more extensive.

What do you think. I tend to agree.

Sounds like he was making a joke…

Anyway, McCain hasn’t been covered for anything at all, so I’d say, probably not.

    It’s called a “joke.”

I didn’t realize it was a joke. My bad. Out of curiosity can you send me a link explain it as a joke.

  4. steve Says:

So I tried and I can’t find any sources that explain in more detail how that was a joke. Until someone directs me to such a source i’m going to have stick to my original post.

This post brought to you from the guy that really dislikes it when folks correct his grammar and spelling…..

I’m going to stick with the original source, in that I heard laughter after he mentioned visiting 57 states, leading me to believe it was a joke, since jokes are often followed by laughter.

Also, I have faith that Senator Obama is smart enough to know that there are only 49 states in the union (I’ll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missoura).

Yeah I heard the laughing as well. I figured the person was laughing at the obvious mistake. I would totally agree that he made a simple mistake. No doubt he knows how many states are in the union. The point that was being made was had McCain made this mistake would the press covered it differently. I tend think it would questioning his mental fitness for the presidency.

Did you and Dubya go to the same grammar coach? It looks like you’ve got electability!

I tend to think that if McCain was the one who said this you would be arguing that he was just joking. You are letting your anti-liberal bias cloud your judgement sir.

    A. It was a mistake, he obviously meant 47, as excluding AK and HI makes 48 states. And laughter was at the obvious mistake.

    B. The press would be right to make a bigger deal of it, if it was McCain. McCain is older than Hawaii’s and Alaska’s statehoods. His mental acuity is much more of a valid issue than Obama’s.
