Off to New Hampshire I Go

It would seem my kind are migrating that way.

The Free State Project (FSP) is a plan to have 20,000 individuals move to a single state in the United States, with the intent of influencing local politics and policy in an effort to reduce the size and scope of government at the local, state, and federal levels. In 2003, the group chose New Hampshire, known for its “Live Free or Die” motto and absence of a state income tax and state sales tax, as its target.

Does that mean you’re moving to NH or you just think it’s a good idea? If you’re a smaller-government advocate, this is a great place to be. It’s not so-called libertopia (yet), but there is an ever growing list of successes caused by the activities of FSP participants and you’d find a large and capable cadre of pro-liberty activists here to join in effective activism.

Whatever…. You wouldn’t even go to Washington to defend a cause that you love to fight for…. And you wouldn’t go because it was dark. It also gets dark in New Hampshire.

Possibly not a perfect experiment due to self-selection bias and NH already being extremely wealthy relative to the rest of the country, but still, an interesting idea (if anyone actually does it).

And btw, isn’t Nevada, like, already 100 times more libertarian than NH?
