I Grow So Weary
Yet another example of a corporate lobbying group trying to influence policy despite the wishes of the people.
A trade group that includes Google Inc., Microsoft Corp. and other high-tech companies has asked federal regulators to order changes in copyright warnings.
Copyright statements that appear at the start of most DVDs and pro sports broadcasts and movies go too far and discourage legal use of the content, the Computer and Communications Industry Association said in a statement Wednesday.
This just boils my blood when I see evil corporations attempting to influence law that clearly nobody wants but the greedy corporations themselves. God it makes me so mad.
H/T here.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not. but if so, you should watch sicko–it has a segment all about health insurance lobbyists fighting socialized medicine, in contrast to what the American people want:
“In an extensive ABCNEWS/Washington Post poll, Americans by a 2-1 margin, 62-32 percent, prefer a universal health insurance program over the current employer-based system” - 2003

Nothing from sicko should be take as true. Nothing.
As for the majority if favor of universal healthcare, I remain skeptical. The majority in favor of healtcare reform I would probably agree with.

I’d say major corporations lobbying lawmakers to serve corporate interests is pretty much a rule these days.
Also, are ABC news and the Washington Post not reputable enough for you? Do not make the mistake of discounting evidence that does not support your position.

Does that poll simply reflect the people’s desire for a change in the way health care operates more so than an explicit endorsement of universal health care?

no, they want universal coverage.
