This Is What Bias Looks Like

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Me and Soledad define overwhelming in different ways:

Think about this: she is an anchor for CNN and is so bias that it colors her ability to do a quick count. That’s remarkable.

Nothing New Here

Hot Air, links to a story showing that Palin, while make less than Biden, has donated significantly more in charity. They write:

Once again, we see that liberals talk about charity, and conservatives take action. The Palins have been quite generous with their cash, while Biden has given far less on an annual basis with a much larger income stream. Since the two Democrats keep claiming the charitable impulse for spending other people’s money, it’s revealing to once again compare Biden’s own personal giving to his political rhetoric, and to his opponent in November.

I’m curious how my readers on the left reconcile the fact that conservatives are more charitable then liberal despite liberal rhetoric to take care of the poor. The fact that liberals are less willing to donate charity implies that they simply want the state to use it’s power to force people to give money and less concerned with actually helping the poor. If it was merely a matter of helping the poor, then liberals would surpass conservatives in donations in helping the poor. However, since they fall behind in helping the poor through charity one might conclude their political rhetoric for helping the poor is more about forcing rich people to do their bidding then actually helping the poor.

Has anyone noticed that when you are scrolling down a web page and the cursor goes over a flash avi player the scrolling stops and you need to move the cursor off of the clip in order to get the scroll to work. This has been a recent change and it drive me insane.

Sarah Palin

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

This post is ridiculously long but it does an excellent job of detailing just how much of a reformer Sarah Palin is. Its also makes a very good job of showing her integrity even in the face of going against her own party.

I would like to add there is a whole bit about how she took on big Oil in her state. I would be interested to see what my left leaning reader think about her how she managed the corruption between big and oil and the state. She did the kind of reform someone like Darwin demands all the time.

Here Is Why Health Care Is So Expensive

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

In the bailout bill passed by the Senate this provision was placed in it:

And tucked away in the tax provisions is a landmark health care provision demanding that insurance companies provide coverage for mental health treatment—such as hospitalization—on parity with physical illnesses.

This creates rigidity in the health insurance market. If you want to get just plain olde fashion health care minus mental care, you no longer can. Of course this will make health care more expensive and its the thousands regulations like this one that case all sorts of distortion.

I hope the house defeats this crappy as bill again.

Instapundit directs me to this excellent non-partisan explanation of the financial crisis. If you want a better understanding of the situation I recommend reading it.
